The temporal brow lift consists of smaller incisions which are made in the temple region of the forehead and scalp. Most of the incision is hidden in the scalp area with a small portion placed on the side of the forehead.

A Temporal Brow Lift or a Lateral Lift is considered a limited incision brow lift or mini brow lift.  This procedure is not designed to target the middle brow area or sagging in the face. The lateral brow lift or temporal lift concentrates on correcting sagging around the outside of the eyebrow. With this method, there is some mild lifting in the cheek area that is for the most part will not make too much of a change in this area. However, if there is too much lateral lifting this can produce an "exotic look" to the outer arch of the brow with a cat look.

Advantages:

  • Minimal scalp numbness

  • Minimal swelling

  • Minimal risk of hair loss

  • Small incisions

  • Small scars

  • Shorter recovery period

  • Reduced bleeding

Disadvantages:

  • Reduced duration of effects, lasting 3-4 years, only the outer portion of the brow is elevated, the part of the eyebrows close to the nose is not elevated

  • A small scar might be evident on the side of the forehead

Older patients who have deep forehead wrinkles and do not want to have a full coronal brow lift might be a good candidate for this approach - as there is much less dissection with this method.
