i am home from new haven

everything went well. i am wrapped up like a mummy, tight as a drum! i got the alloderm in both breasts to reduce the ripples i was seeing. i didnt however, get the implant exchange to 525 because they do not come 525, only 550 and that would have surpassed the other breast and i do not want to go bigger. so already i can feel that the alloderm is working because i do not feel the sink hole i had under my colarbone area. i feel good, i do have some pain but i am dealing with it. i do have a massive sore throat but i know the keflex will help that. i have percoset and vallium. the pain is only in the clevage area.
now my hip... i fell in florida on kims marble floor. (wet spot) it was like slipping on ice. i fell hard and i think i did something. remember i have osteoprosis in my hips... :frown: well as soon as i feel better i am going to go to my internist and see if i can get another bone density scan. i think i did some damage. the demerol shot they gave me kept the hip pain away for a day and a half. it came back right when i got out of my car to go into my house... of course lol! so i am out of work for 2 weeks. cant drive, but i am sunday to church. and monday night for a meeting at church. then i am not driving any more. friday i have to go back to newhaven for my post op. i am going alone this time. its really no big deal. i really like traveling and i love new york. i may putter around there a bit then get on the bus to come back home. my husb has a drs appt that same day, and frankly i like going alone, i can look in the stores and i am planning to go to sephora!!

i will. i am taking it easy. i am tired and sore throat. glands are not cooperating w me since yesterday. keflex to the rescue. only driving sunday to church and monday night at 7 for meeting at church. thats it!

yeah i do have to get the hip checked. i am going to call the dr tomorrow and see if i can get a bone dens test in a couple weeks being im not supposed to drive.

Pat I'm glad your surgery went well. I am so sorry about your fall. I also found I had osteoporosis in my hip and spine two years ago. Do you take anything for it? I am so afraid to fall. Let us know how you make out with that.. I went to New York with my girlfriends a few weeks ago and went by quite a few Sephora shops. They were not into going there but I would have loved to go in on my own. I understand about shopping by yourself. Sometimes it's the best way to go to spend time on the things you want to look at.

i didnt know you had osteo! i found out last year or so ago. yesterday i went to walgreens and got vit d with 1000 IU's. i will take that once a day because my vit d is really low and you cant keep calcium in your body if theres no vit d. i tried those chewy calcium things but them make my teeth hurt. its like eating a tootsie roll and i am not fond of those. as far as pills go , i am lame there too so i am taking small steps. i take synthroid, vit d, and right now antibiotics and pain meds. normally i dont take pain meds. didnt take it today, nor the valium.
i got myself 2 books to read, one is the shopaholic ties the knot and also i got janet evanovich's "finger lickin 15" i have read all janets books and they are soo dam funny!
my hip dodnt feel as bad as yesterday. its slowing down so i am greatful for that. i just wish i didnt fall and probably wouldnt if i hadnt been worrying abt kims husb coming home to find me using his powder. rediculous as it sounds. he told me to make believe the house was mine and do whatever i needed or wanted but i still felt funny ya know? its actually the last thing i needed ..falling. i tell ya, marble polished floors can kill ya!!!
sleeping wasnt that great last night but i am thinking tonight will be better. i woke up around 2 i guess and reached for my book after taking a bit of unisom to get me sleepy.
the throat isnt as sore tho i am taking losengers. this time they put some soft blow up thing in my mouth to keep the tongue flat. jeez i wonder if i fought them when they put that in! lol.well at least so far it is a sunny day. it wasnt very warm in conneticut. seems like all over the country the weather is weird. thankfully florida was good this time. i cant wait till next year when i get to go again. this time i may visit a friend from this forum some time back. julia, she is from england but lived in bahamas and now is in ft lauderdale. i will undoubedly see kim too wherever she may be living because i dont know for sure if shes going to be in the same place.

Pat, I've read all of her books too. I saw the new one was out, but haven't gotten it yet. I should, it will be good for vacation in a couple weeks. You're right they are so funny! DS & DH just say "Oh, she's got one of her books again"! Sometimes I'll share with DH, but definitely not DS.

i will def keep you posted. i know the dr is gonna flip. i do love my dr! shes great. shes prob going to send me for a bone scan.
shopping is my favorite pastime , right up there with going to the beach! right now my clevage is... i swear... i think its screaming! lolololol!!! i feel like i need a pipe cleaner to itch it! now can u visualise that! all this wrapping makes me hot and lord i hope i dont get stinky sweaty boobs!! lol!! theres no aiiiiiiiiir in there .... helllllp!

yes gentle hugs, i am ready to explode upon impact. lol! gabrielle from dr restifo's office said i can remove the bandages saturday. to just cut them off. ehhhhhk scary face. we shall see if i do it. i should tho otherwise it may be smelly like a cast gets on your arm or leg. can we please say ... ick? lol!

What can occur is that the bone breaks and then one falls....

While in rehab followin' my last hip replacement there was a lady there from Houston TX who had come to AL for her grand daughter's wedding, she was dancing at the reception and boom down she went. It was determined that her hip broke and "then" she fell.

Please don't take chances with osteo. I was told a few years ago to begin taking Fosomax for my bones, well ya know how stubborn MissNurseScarlette can be.

So she didn't but instead became active over at the riding ctr aka 'barn' to her and wala.....when she had her next bone density test the doc told her the results were that her "bones were stronger" than they had been!

I'm saying all of that to say this.....don't neglect this important part of your health....:wink:
